Covenant Point Facilities

Where is Covenant Point located?

Covenant Point is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula just three miles north of the Wisconsin border. The site is 140 miles northwest of Green Bay, 340 miles north of Chicago, and 290 miles northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Established in 1926 and expanded in the 1960's, the site today consists of over 80 acres of forests and fields with an expansive waterfront and a remote island at the north end of the lake.

"The Island" is an eight-acre piece of land in Hagerman Lake about one mile from the camp. The Island boasts a "light side" (open area) and a "dark side" (thick Hemlock forest), and is used in the summer for adventure programs for campers in grades 6-9.

"The Mainland" is the main 13-acre site of Covenant Point. All mainland sleeping lodges, the Chapel, the Tabernacle, Arts & Crafts building and Dining Hall are on these thirteen acres. Situated on a peninsula, the Mainland boasts over 1200 feet of lake frontage.

"The Back Forty" is the 60-acre area of land across the road from the main area of camp. The far northwest corner meets with the Ottawa National Forest. Most of camp's nature and recreation programs take place in the Back Forty. A brand new Nature Center now provides a comfortable indoor space for classes and meetings.

Buildings

The mainland of Covenant Point contains the facilities for recreation, lodging, and food service. Summer capacity of the camp is about 115 campers and winter capacity is 140. All winterized facilities are carpeted, and have washroom facilities inside the same building with a fireplace/woodstove in most lounge areas.
